Epcot opened on October 1st, 1982 as EPCOT Center, from Walt Disney’s own concepts of a modern city complex with a focus on the future. While the name may have been changed to the shorter Epcot, the park remains in many ways similar to its opening day themes.
Epcot is truly two different experiences in one park– Future World and World Showcase. The main entrance first introduces guests to Future World, where guests can experience technology of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. All of the various pavilions and attractions are anchored in the center by Spaceship Earth, the iconic sphere that rises above the area. World Showcase is reminiscent of a World’s Fair, with 11 nations represented in elaborate pavilions, featuring various attractions, films, shops, restaurants and entertainment unique to each country they represent.
This part of the website is still being built. Soon, it will hold detailed information on all that Epcot has to offer, including detailed descriptions of rides and attractions, and insider tips on making your vacation even more magical.
