Walt Disney World is always evolving, making improvements and changes to its parks, attractions, and resorts on a regular basis. Below are some of the major refurbishments and closures, listed by location and date. Since this information is complied from both official and unofficial sources, dates are subject to change without notice.

Magic Kingdom:

  • Ongoing – Fantasyland Expansion construction, with phased openings through 2014
  • Through Aug 21, 2013 – Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – Closed for refurbishment
  • Aug 19 – Sep 30, 2013 – Jungle Cruise – Closed for refurbishment
  • Sep 3 – 5, 10 – 12, & 23 – 26, 2013 – Space Mountain – Closed for refurbishment
  • Sep 30 – Oct 20, 2013 – Walt Disney World Railroad – Closed for refurbishment
  • Sep 30 – Nov 13, 2013 – Peter Pan – Closed for refurbishment

Epcot:

  • Through Sep 4, 2013 – Fountain View Ice Cream Shop – Closed for refurbishment; will begin serving Starbucks products upon reopening
  • Through Late 2013 – Morocco waterfront area – Closed for construction; new restaurant being built along the promenade
  • Aug 22 – 27, 2013 – Spaceship Earth – Closed for refurbishment

Hollywood Studios:

  • Through Sep 2, 2013 – Muppet Vision 3D – Closed for refurbishment
  • Sep 3 – Nov 19, 2013 – Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground – Closed for refurbishment
  • Nov 18 – 21, 2013 – Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show – Closed for refurbishment

Animal Kingdom:

  • No known refurbishments/closures at this time

Blizzard Beach:

  • No known refurbishments/closures at this time

Typhoon Lagoon:

  • Oct 27, 2013 – Jan 4, 2014 – Closed for annual refurbishment

Downtown Disney:

  • Ongoing – Major renovation and expansion to the Pleasure Island and surrounding areas has recently begun to transform area into Disney Springs, will continue over the next several years
  • Ongoing – Parking lots H – K closed as part of the Disney Springs construction
  • Aug 18, 2013 – Capt’n Jacks Restaurant – Closing permanently as part of the Disney Springs construction
  • Sep 17 – 21, and Nov 5 – 6 – Cirque du Soleil La Nouba – No performances (Regularly scheduled Tuesday through Saturday each week)

Resorts:

  • Through Summer 2013 – Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort – Spa – Closed for refurbishment
  • Through Fall 2013 – Disney’s Contemporary Resort – California Grill – Closed for refurbishment
  • Through Late 2013 – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort – New Disney Vacation Club units are being constructed
  • Through Dec 20, 2013 – Disney’s All Star Sports Resort – End Zone Food Court – Closed for refurbishment; grab and go items will be available in the arcade area, and bus transportation will be available to the other All Star resort food courts daily
  • Aug 25 – Sep 14, 2013 – Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort – Grandstand Pool – Closed for refurbishment
  • Sep 9 – 13, 2013 – Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort – Ol’ Man Island Pool Slide – Closed for refurbishment; pool will remain open
  • Sep 9 – 20, 2013 – Disney’s Polynesian Resort – Volcano Pool closed for refurbishment

Elsewhere on Property:

  • Through mid-November, 2013 – Palm Golf Course – Closed for refurbishment
