Common Abbreviations

Much like any online community, Disney websites and forums use a variety of abbreviations and acronyms, which can be confusing, especially for someone new to the lingo. Some are very common and can be assumed when reading the rest of the context; others are tougher to decipher. And there are a few that can have multiple meanings based on the topic; for example, CS can mean Coronado Springs or Counter service.

Below are a number of the more common acronyms and abbreviations you might encounter:

Theme Parks:

WDW - Walt Disney World, the theme parks and resorts in Central Florida
MK - Magic Kingdom, the first theme park opened in Walt Disney World
EP - Epcot, the second theme park opened in Walt Disney World
HS - Hollywood Studios, the third theme park opened in Walt Disney World
AK - Animal Kingdom, the most recent park to open in Walt Disney World
BB - Blizzard Beach
TL - Typhoon Lagoon, can also refer to Tomorrowland
DTD, DD - Downtown Disney, either the complex in Florida or California
DL - Disneyland, the actual park or the entire complex in Anaheim, California
DCA - Disney's California Adventure, the second park to open in Anaheim
UNI, Uni - Universal, generally Universal Studios Florida
IOA - Islands of Adventure, the second theme park at Universal Florida

CT, Cont - Contemporary Resort
BLT - Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort
