Blizzard Beach
After an incredibly rare snowstorm in Florida, ski slopes and even a chairlift were quickly built to enjoy the wintery scene. But it didn’t last long, as the hot Florida weather started to melt the snow, turning the slopes into water slides. That’s the creative story behind Disney’s Blizzard Beach, which opened to guests on April 1st, 1995. In a monumental April Fools style joke, Blizzard Beach combines the theming of a ski resort with water park thrills.
